Statement:
I will promote infrastructure development. We must build
a natural gas pipeline, complete the Port MacKenzie rail
spur, and build the Knik Arm Bridge and a truck route to our
port. This investment will allow businesses to flourish and
create jobs. District 10 will be the crossroads for economic
development in interior Alaska.
As mayor I fought to prevent the mothballing of the Knik
Arm Bridge, fought for the rail line, fixed roads, increased
public safety and improved fire insurance ratings. I
have a record of getting things done but anytime you
make bold changes you risk stepping on toes. What we
accomplished in Houston was good for our community.
Did I make mistakes along the way? Sure. I’m human,
but I learned from them and kept right on fighting for our
community.
I know what it takes to balance a budget and make payroll.
We need to rein in the State operating budget starting with
a 3% cut in administration and not allow any more excuses
for not making cuts. It’s time to stop talking and start doing.
The Alaska Legislature hasn’t been effective for years.
Sometimes it takes new management for change to
happen. If you want a strong representative who will fight
for our district, someone who has the energy and integrity
to get the job done, then I’m your candidate.
